The therapy department works with people of all ages to prevent injuries and restore function following illness or injury. We focus on the individual’s health needs and wants, whether a patient’s goal is walking independently, breaking a running time, regaining independence and the ability to perform daily tasks or returning to work after an injury.

For people with health problems resulting from an injury or disease, the Deaconess Illinois Union County therapy staff can aid in the recovery process. Therapy focuses on making the patient stronger, relieving pain and helping them to regain use of an affected limb or re-learn the activities of daily living, such as walking, dressing, communicating or bathing.

We also serve a preventive health role, in keeping people well and safe from injury. We do this by teaching patients the importance of fitness and showing them how to avoid hurting their bodies at work or play.
