Hours
The Wound Care Center sees patients on Thursdays by appointment; however, same-day appointments are usually available Monday through Friday.
Bring your medication lists and any records related to prior treatments to your appointment.
Insurance and referrals
A doctor’s referral is preferred, but not required. Note, however, that some insurance providers require a referral from your primary care physician for you to utilize our services.
Most insurance plans, including Medicare and Blue Cross, cover wound care. Check with your insurance provider to verify coverage. Patients with an HMO must have a referral from their primary care physician. Patients being treated for work-related injury must have a pre-approval from their employer’s workers’ compensation insurance company.
Please fax referrals to 618-833-9433 prior to your appointment.
Wound care services are provided in the Physician’s Annex (D-Wing) next to Deaconess Illinois Union County Hospital.
